The best comic ever about a robotic Martin Lawrence flying a jet with Shia Labeouf to destroy a giant meteor. Also the only one.

The Slashers #45: Boomstick

Suck on this. You expected someone else?

The Slashers #44: Battle Royale

Will it be a passing of the torch, or a kicking of the ass?

T-shirts!

I received my t-shirts orders, and here’s the first picture!

And they look pretty good! The only minor gripe however is that the ones that have many colors, like this one, are printed with a more cost effective method, and it kinda shows. The ones that have one or two colors are perfect and sturdy, but these ones, even though they are very cool and should last for a long time, I feel like I really should warn you that they are not of the same quality than, let’s say, the one that only has Fred’s face in white or black. But at the same time, it gives them a retro look that’s more than fitting for the designs, they are sturdy enough, they’re in full color, they’re inexpensive and they help support the website!

So everyone who buys one, don’t forget to send me pictures!

The Slashers #42: Locky Luke

Fredschach is still watching the men.

That sounded slightly inappropriate.

The Slashers #41: Nitrorawar

Just like the NWO and WCW, this won’t end well and it won’t be pretty.

The Slashers #40: Haddonfield Screwjob

Did Remike screw Jay or is it Jay who screwed Jay?

The Slashers #39: But is he really dead? We’re not telling!! End…

The people who have played or heard about the old school horror video games with these characters should understand the comic. I apologize to all the others.

Werewolves of London

Before the new comic this weekend, I thought I might share a song from one of my favorite artist, Warren Zevon, that fits the Halloween theme really well. Ladies and gentlemen, Werewolves of London.

Dementium 2, Nintendo DS

Given my interest in writing comics about horror movies, and my video game passion, it should come as no surprise that I’m quite a big survival horror fan. I bought a DS not too long ago and the first games I picked up were Contra 4, since I’ve always had a soft spot for the old school stuff, and Dementium 2. It looked pretty fun, creepy and the graphics seemed mighty impressive for Nintendo’s little handheld. And I was not disapointed: while never being crap your pants scary, Dementium 2 is as creep as any game can hope to be on a handheld, the gameplay is great wih tight controls and fun weapons, and the story is deliberately ambiguous, and pretty fun, even though you might have to stop and think about the ending for a while, or you’ll probably find it lame the first time.

Basically, you play William Redmoore, a crazy dude in a mental hospital who’s suspected of the murder of his wife and daughter, and you’re never quite sure if what’s happening is in your head or not, and if you really did kill your family. The atmosphere is probably the best thing about the game. The environments and ennemies are just varied enough to stay fresh, and there’s always an aura of hopelessness everywhere you go.

However, the game is very short. I beat it in 4 hours the first time, and 3 the second. There’s an arena like survival mode you can unlock, and one or two weapons that require some exploration to find, but most of the game is fairly straightforward with simple puzzles, and the replay value isn’t really through the roof. And while the game generally sounds great, the cheesy horror music that plays when creatures are near you gets repetitive and loops a little too quickly.

However, these flaws are vastly overshadowed by the good parts. Where’s the rule saying a game has to clock in at 40 hours of game time to be good? When enjoyed for the thrill ride that it is, Dementium 2 is one hell of a fun, creepy and mightily impressive game, and it stands as one of the best horror and FPS game on the system.

The master plan is succeeding!

The Slashers #37: Three Horsemen

The story keeps unfolding…

The Slashers #36: Heel Turn

Whatcha gonna do when Remike and his cronies run all over you brother?

The Slashers #35: Grinding the House

Machete is certainly a good movie, but you gotta wonder why some horror flicks are watched and reviewed as if they’re SUPPOSED to be serious.

The Slashers #34: Alice in Zombieland

After much waiting, here’s the latest Slashers! This comic will also help you to improve your abilities in talking “Zombie”.

Palace of Wisdom

I had my wisdom teeth removed recently (all 4 of them) and even though I’m feeling a LOT better than I expected to, I’m always kind of stuck in one of two modes: 1) my jaw hurts and I don’t feel like doing much after work, especially since I just spent an entire day drawing other stuff and 2) just took my pain pills and I wanna sleep.

There should be a new comic this weekend, hopefully, and I’ll be doing my best to update the comic as frequently as possible. Meanwhile, here’s some Street Fighter 2 inspired art I’m doing for http://www.fight-evil.com for the eponymous Fights.

I normally don’t like cats a lot…

But I got one anyway!

May not seem like it from the picture, but we love each other. That surprised Fred a little bit. Besides, I thought pictures of kitties were popular on the intarwebs, so there we are.

On a semi-interesting note for those who follow hockey, you can clearly see my Montréal Canadiens’ banner on my wall, and I’m currently wearing a Québec Nordiques’ t-shirt. That’s the hockey equivalent of saying that you like Obama and McCain equally.

Call of Cthulhu Now update

It’s official, me and 4 of my good friends are going to start our first Call of Cthulhu 1990s game next week. I picked people who I not only get along very well with, but these guys are also not as nerdy as one might think. Alright, we’re all a bunch of geeks, but they have about as much Pen and Paper RPG experience as I do. I’m gonna fulfill two roles during the campaign: that of the Keeper (COC’s equivalent to a DM) and the part of a nerdy and awkward, but witty and sarcastic journalist named Warren Lawrence. His name was taken from two of my favorite musicians, Warren Zevon and Steve Winwood (middle name “Lawrence”), and his physical appearance is based on those of Zevon himself and John Lennon, with none of the sex appeal. I though I might show you guys my character sheet.

Wish me and my players good luck. We’ll need it. Especially them.

New Slashers t-shirt!

Here’s a new shirt, with an actual comic printed on it! Expect more like these with a few of my favorite strips, and with future ones as well. Just click on the image and get yourself an awesome Slashers t-shirt!

The Slashers #33 Slashers Swan Song

One of the Slashers decides to pitch an idea for a mainstream friendly movie.

Off for a week, Steve Winwood/Santana

I’m on vacation for a week! This means no comic update for that time, so I hope you can forgive me while I’m having fun away from the computer. The highlight of my trip will be tomorrow, when I’ll be at the Centre Bell in Montréal to see my all time favorite musician, Mr. Steve Winwood. His career spans over 4 decades and he never stopped evolving as an artist. He might be best known on the internet because Eric Prydz’s hit techno song,”Call on Me”, which sampled Winwood’s own “Valerie”. During the 80s and early 90s, he arguably wrote and performed the most mature in the pop genre, while he touched on about every musical style you can imagine during the other decades. From the Blues and RnB roots of the Spencer Davis Group to the psychedelic rock of Traffic and Blind Faith, he’s worth discovering not only to see if he’s your cup of tea, but to hear that he had the exact same black  blues singer voice when he was a mere 16 years old.
